Simon R. Green has quickly become one of my favorite authors. The Secret Histories books are one of my favorite series from him and is also the beginning of this series. My biggest gripe with this is that the plot just kind of moves from set piece to set piece at times. The latter books develop the plot at a steadier pace, but this book was still a thrill to read. Humor, action, adventure and the supernatural all combine to make for a very enjoyable ride.

Not totally original to the hardcore fans of hidden societies who guard the clueless world from things that go bump in the night, but was a fun read

Great book if you you like tons of action with lots of humor and some cheezy one liners thrown in for good measure. It kept me interested all the way through the novel. ( trust me that is a true rareity ) The only thing i didn't like was the dialoge between the hero and damsel in distress. This is defenatly a rated "R" novel.
