Meg Murry's father has been missing for years and, although she and her family are confident he'll return to them -- the nature of his work is merely secret and mysterious -- it isn't easy when the townspeople are whispering and speculating about her family behind their backs. After a peculiar meeting with Mrs. Whatsit, a decidedly odd woman, suddenly Meg, her little brother Charles Wallace and their friend Calvin are whisked into a remarkable adventure across space and time in an effort to rescue her father.

Has 'A Wrinkle in Time' aged well? I'm not sure. At the time it was published it was undoubtedly considered groundbreaking: science fiction authored by a woman, with a female protagonist, winning the 1963 Newbery Medal, and remaining on countless schools' required reading lists in the decades since. I somehow missed it in my youth; reading it for the first time as an adult, without considering it contextually in its time, I just wasn't dazzled.

I just love this book! I'm being serious people, really serious. Okay, how many of you, by a show of hands, love this book? Practically all of you? Awesome! It would break my heart to see a comment of somebody saying that they hated this book. One of the best books I've ever read. Definitely on my favourites list. I also really enjoyed the graphic novel of this book. I actually read the graphic novel first.

I enjoyed this much more as an adult than my childhood memories of it. As a kid, I didn't pick up on its deeper meaning, or the imagery and symbolism throughout it. Perhaps this is a book wasted on the young?

This book was awesome! I loved it! It was so cool and adventurous. Personally I love adventurous books just like this one. Since I liked the writer I decided to look for more books by Madeleine L'Engle.

My favorite series of all time. I love the way L'Engle bends my definition of reality. I'll take that trip again and again.

A Wrinkle in Time is a classic! It's exciting, emotional, and intelligent. Great for upper elementary students and older. Even adults will be challenged by this book.

"The foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men. For ye see your calling , brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called, but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. And base things of the world, and things which despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are."
