Light-hearted romp that plays off a well-meaning deception and the serendipity of a marriage being postponed. The two main characters are promised to other people, yet almost instantly recognize a connection. A sailor survives a shipwreck and focuses on the meaning of home, seeking an authentic Christmas. Barbara Stanwyck plays the career girl whose imaginative writing means her readers think she's a married, gourmet cook with a country farmhouse. In reality, she loves her single girl Manhattan lifestyle and relies on her kindly "uncle" to make marvelous meals (this role is well-played with pithy asides by S.Z. Sakall). Film is set in the WWII era; there’s an underlying assumption that women's main goal in life is to get married.

A fun, almost screwball comedy that can be watched anytime not just at Christmas. Silly and sometimes predictable a really fun wholesome movie with no sex, violence or rock and roll.

A wonderful Christmas Classic that everyone will enjoy. A definite must see for your holiday enjoyment. This is a wonderful Comedy that runs along the same vein as "You've Got Mail." A Five Star Movie.

This was such a cute and entertaining film! The script was so witty. Dennis Morgan was very attractive, the supporting players were hysterical and Barbara Stanwyck was convincing in her part. Her wardrobe was something to behold as well! Off the charts beautiful. I had never heard of this movie before. Now, it will not surpass Miracle on 34th Street as my favourite Yuletide flick but I will definitely start watching it every Christmas.

This is one of my favorite classic Christmas movies! The characters are charming and the plot is hilarious. Barbara Stanwyck and Dennis Morgan make a great couple; then, Uncle Felix is sure to delight everyone with his comical antics. Whether babies are being kidnapped or parsons are escaping through windows, "Christmas in Connecticut" is a fun family film sure to put everyone in the Christmas mood.

Cute, really cute. A delightful change from all the stress and violence which current releases are obsessed with. Gotta love Felix.

Barbara Stanwyck plays a Martha Stewart-like character -- but she has a huge secret. The situation comes to a head in this witty brilliant satire which is enhanced with the performances of Sydney Greenstreet and S Z Sakall. It's not only one of my favorite Christmas movies but a top comedy. Must see!
This disc also has a heartwarming bonus short film.

If nothing else, this decidedly silly, light-weight RomCom from 1945 will certainly entice you with all of its talk (as well as its presentation) of food-glorious-food. Your mouth will water at the sight of some of the delectable meals that are set before your famished eyes._____ But, with that said, I found that this somewhat screwy Chick Flick wasn't exactly the sort of cold-climate story that's gonna be guaranteed to warm your heart, nor put you into the Christmas spirit, or anything like that, at all._____ Even though this film's plot was just a wafer-thin "Girl-Gets-Boy-To-The Altar" story, it still does have its entertaining moments._____ Barbara Stanwyck plays character Elizabeth Lane, a chic, NYC writer for Smart Housekeeping magazine, who's got her naive readers believing her to be the most ideally perfect homemaker on the face of the planet (but, in reality, she's far from being that)._____ This standard studio corn has Miss Lane cornered into entertaining both a dashing war veteran and her overbearing boss in a cozy, but posh, Connecticut home for the holidays.

This is a funny, witty, surprisingly risqué, classic Christmas film. It's a little hokey but, if you really think about it, that fact makes it even more entertaining since it is a very good representation of what we're all searching for during the holidays; laughter filling a warm home with a perfect wintery wonderland outside our frosted windowpanes. Yes, this is one of those films that will make you long for the Good Ol' Days (which we sometimes forget were created in glorious black and white by georgeous Hollywood actors - like Barbara Stanwyck)
