A vampire aristocrat, Peyton is well aware of his duty to his bloodline: mate with an appropriate female of his class and carry on his family's traditions. And he thought he'd found his perfect match - until she fell in love with someone else. Yet when his split-second decision in a battle with the enemy endangers the life of another trainee, Peyton has to face the idea that his future, and his heart, actually lie with another. Novo, as a female in the Black Dagger Brotherhood's training program, feels like she has to prove herself to everybody - and she has no interest in being distracted by falling in love. But when Peyton proves to be so much more than a rich playboy, she is forced to confront the tragedy that has broken her soul and closed her off from love. As the two grapple with Novo's past and Peyton's present, another couple must contend with an erotic connection that is unparalleled - and potentially scandalous. Saxton, who has had his heart broken, discovers in himself a deep-seated attraction to Ruhn, a new member of the household. But will the other male explore the connection? Or will he close his mind and his heart to what could be true love... and cost Saxton everything?

I am loving the Legacy series more than what the original BDB series has morphed into. The style of writing is more in line to what the first few books were like, before they became a jumbled mess of story arcs and side-characters. Having only the 4 POV's is great, and allows for better character & relationship building, with just little teasers and interactions with the original brothers to keep it interesting.

For me, this book was elevated with Saxton & Ruhn's relationship - I'm in love with these 2! Peyton & Novo were just ok, a typical HEA with differing class dynamics and each holding onto a secret that strains their relationship before they overcome it together. Sappy and effective, but yawn. But Saxton & Ruhn? My god, it was great. There was sweetness, joy, steam (holy hotness these 2!), pain, and rage. Love, love, love.

Strongly recommend for any fan of the series!

I am such a big fan of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. This story focuses on Saxton and Ruhn and Peyton and Nova and their relationships. Saxton and Ruhn have to come to accept the idea that they are attracted to each other. Nova wants nothing to do with any male, especially Peyton. But slowly they find that they do have feelings for each other. I was expecting a little more about the on going war with the Lessers, but felt that this was a great book. I look forward to the next book in this series.
