I was not impressed with this book at all and I'm stunned at its 5 star rating. First, the author reused the same bits of information throughout the book and would contradict what she'd already said. Second, most of the quotes she used weren't very interesting or were pulled exactly from another research book about mermaids. Third, the author didn't have any knowledge about mermaids before writing this book, so she basically pulled her info from various other websites and books, slapped a title on and printed it. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this book, especially if you've done much other research on mermaids already. It couldn't hold my attention and took me forever to finish. With all its writing flaws, I felt like I was reading a high school research paper on mermaids. If you're fascinated by mermaids and want to learn more about them, I'd suggest reading the Wikipedia page and a couple other websites you can find through Google.
