This movie is amazing!! It's an awesome mix of fantasy, slice-of-life and science fiction. One of my all-time favourite animes. Even if you you don't like anime I personally think you'll enjoy this movie.

A Korean or Chinese movie that I had seen a month or two ago that is live action is very similar to this story. Only it involves time travel. It's a boy and a girl switching places(or time). This movie though was interesting in how the characters communicated and dealt with being switched around. I think the old american movie like this was Big, 13 going on 30, and Freaky Friday.

There is a list on IMDB of these switch movies: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls062772651/

Shinkai returns to his familiar themes of unrequited love, trains and water along with a time travel twist. This movie is brilliantly animated and Shinkai displays his ability to create fantastic worlds and mix in teen romantic angst. This is his most playful and light hearted work without too much brooding and darkness although it does get pretty heavy toward the end. Does he still leave the romance unresolved as in his other animes? Any Shinkai fan knows how he ends his stories. Regardless, this is another solid anime by Shinkai, not at the level of animation of Garden of Words, but it is a more fluid work than his other movies.

The movie “Your Name” is a well produced and marvelous anime movie. This movie was absolutely amazing, everything about this movie was perfect. The plot was well thought out, with a boy living in Tokyo and a girl living in a rural area of Japan had switched bodies. The animation of this movie was outstanding especially the animation of Tokyo and the characters. The animation of this movie will make you fall in love with Tokyo and anime. The movie included actual areas in Japan instead of fantasy areas, meaning that this movie was based on actual areas. The mood and emotion which the film expressed were marvelous with shock, sadness and joy. However, the ending of this movie was quite sad as well as romantic. I personally believe that this movie is enjoyable for all ages, as it was a marvelous movie with a romantic yet sad theme but was easy to understand. This movie is worth watching it will break your heart, but it is totally worth it. Anyone who enjoys anime or romantic/touching movies will definitely adore “Your Name”. Rating 5/5.

Okay the story was not flawless. At the end of the movie, and even throughout, I was left with a lot of unanswered questions. What I really enjoyed was how vibrant and beautiful all the colours were, especially the scenery, which was stunning. The character artwork, however, was simple and at times looked out-of-place to that of the scenery - very Miyazaki-esque.

It's a unique story to be sure, and certainly worthy of a full viewing. I recommend that you have it on the Japanese dialogue with subtitles as opposed to the English dubbed version.

The animation is good, but storyline is too much like a cheesy melodrama. Young kids and teens may enjoy this, but unlike "Spirited Away" and "Arietty", this lacks substance, plot, and characterization that can touch older adults. This is not a masterpiece the way "Spirited Away" is.

The concept could've gone horribly wrong if this movie wasn't made by Japan. But they did a really good job with this movie. I'm not a big fan of body swap stories, but this movie does it right. This movie kept me hooked until the very end. I recommend that you watch it in Japanese with English subtitles at least once.

If you plan to watch it, watch it with your FULL attention, as it will be worth in the end to understand the whole meaning of, "your name". This is one of the best animated film of our time, no less from the best of director, Makoto Shinkai. Keeping it real to the heart.

I came in expecting a lighthearted Freaky Friday-esque comedy, and wound up emoting way more than I thought I would. The bond between Mitsuha and Taki is more moving than a lot of on screen connections that live performers share. The crux of the story could come off as being gimmicky in the wrong movie, but in this case it provides the right amount of dramatic tension for the characters to be faced with while developing their relationship.

It's pretty good. I prefer the original version to the dubbed one. Certain scenes remind me of The Lake House and Ladyhawke.

A story of love, with beautiful illustrations and a deep meaning, you definetly will tear up.
Not gonna give away too much because you have to watch it for yourself. (Is a little confusing so be prepared to watch it more than once!)
