Robin and Aurora have finally begun their adventure in parenting. With newborn Sophie proving to be quite a handful, Roe's mother pays for a partially trained nurse, Virginia Mitchell, to come help the new parents for a few weeks. Virginia proves to be especially helpful when Robin has to leave town for work and Roe is struck with a bad case of the flu. One particularly stormy night, Roe wakes to hear her daughter crying and Virginia nowhere to be found. Roe's brother Philip helps her search the house and they happen upon a body outside, but it isn't Virginia's. Now, not only does she have a newborn to care for and a vulnerable new marriage to nurture, Roe also has to contend with a new puzzle, who is this mystery woman dead in their backyard, and what happened to Virginia?

Didn't really like the previous book in series (after enjoying others), this was much better.

Another cozy southern mystery by Charlaine Harris. I enjoy these books for their great characters and the fact that they are a pleasant comforting read.

I'm a fan of most everything Charlaine Harris writes, and though women friends think it's odd for a man to enjoy the Aurora Teagarden stories, I have read them all. Harris creates intriguing characters in all her series' and Roe is among the most fun. Her life has changed a lot over the course of her books and that is as interesting to me as the murder-of-this-book aspect. If Charlaine keeps writing, I'll keep reading.

It is a good story, as this series always is, but I got worn down by the whole baby thing. Women who have had a baby already know it is exhausting. Teens reading this won't believe it anyway. Not as tense or as dramatic as earlier books, but apparently both the author and character were worn out by breast feeding. Do not judge the rest of the series by this book!
