Black Panther was exceptional! It is by far one of the best Marvel movies to be released, being the second best on my list, with number one being Infinity War. It had a brilliant storyline, amazing actors and breathtaking scenery and most of all, perfect music! I loved it and it's a movie which I... Read More »

Black Panther is one of the best Marvel movies with really hilarious comedy that isn't forced and a lush and detailed world concealed with high-tech resources. Though by no means flawless, it was quite entertaining to see a society and style of tech that was completely imagined from the ground up. An isolationist African nation secretly harboring space-age tech is a very fun concept in a world of superheroes, and a greater understanding of the fantastical Vibranium adds some depth to Captain America's shield and Vision's... everything. While I found the villain interesting, and could see how a bitter killer could develop such a vindictive goal (he was basically racist against everyone who's not black), I'd never agree with those who actually claim the guy was RIGHT. Violent global uprisings aren't exactly the best path to equality and justice. Also I loved that there were multiple well-written, believably-awesome female characters, rather than the forced, shoehorned, one-dimensional characters that are sometimes tossed into movies to make a hamfisted point. Found pretty much every character interesting and believable. Lastly, it was a delightful bonus to get the actors for Gollum and Biblo Baggins facing off in two scenes. Required viewing for anyone who wants to be fully prepared for Infinity War.

After giving it twenty minutes I switched it off. It did not entertain me or grabbed my attention.

Finally, a movie where a princess is a tech expert and a battle strategist. This isn't just diverse in terms of race - it's diverse in terms of gender.

We gave it 15 min., but the God-like power premise of the characters ,the idea of
high-tech vs. savage natives, early violence and crudity ,and weird talk/ script to boot,
just is not my cup of tea (or beer, or coffee).

Cinematically beautiful. Excellent casting. Amazing action. I’m so glad I was alive to see Hollywood release a movie with a Black superhero who wasn’t the sidekick.

As others have stated, this is a powerful contemporary story which brings valid discussion points to the table. Perhaps I'm finally experiencing Super Hero Fatigue because I was just not as moved by this one as previous endeavors.

However, I'm also perfectly willing to admit this powerful story is not directed at me. Great special affects and I do look forward to spending more time in Wakanda.

A heaven sent origin myth of a royal king, with supernatural ability, led and protected his people in a hidden African society from the rest of the world with advanced futuristic technologies. It has all the bells and whistles of a top notch Marvel based film plus a real life political debate: T'Challa/Black Panther vs N'Jadaka/Killmonger and utopian/Wakanda vs inner-city/Oakland. The reward for the excellent script, actions, music, costumes, CGI, actors and production sets is to become the highest-grossing solo superhero film. Bravo!

Note: Luke Cage TV series from Netflix (Available in DVD) is less ambitious in origin than BP, but with very charismatic black actors led by a former convict Luke Cage with superhuman strength and unbreakable skin and a Harlem NYPD detective Mist Knight with 'Misty Vision'.
