Starry Eyes is a fantastic new book with friendship, humor, camping, astronomy and romance! I loved reading about Zorie going on this camping trip with her friends because it really gave me the urge to pack a bag and get out into the beautiful outdoors to a big adventure with the basics and a telescope. I recommend it to any lovers of Young Adult, especially those who love contemporary and romance.

I liked the overall message of this book. You can make plans for your life, but you when things don't go the way you expected you are more resilient than you think. Zorie and Lennon find themselves stranded out in the mountains and must find their way back. Fortunately Lennon is a backpacking expert and takes excellent care of both of them. Zorie learns some valuable life lessons while they are isolated from civilization. What concerns me about this book is the glorification of teenage sex. These kids are only seventeen. As they witness marital upheaval around them, they are legitimately concerned about the longevity of their love for each other. Call me old-fashioned -- I am.
Having sex when they are this young does not strengthen their bond, it just increases the level of difficulty.
