A wise old dog travels through the courts and battlefields of Europe and through the centuries in search of the master who granted him immortality. Tomorrow tells the story of a 217-year-old dog and his search for his lost master. His adventures take him through the London Frost Fair, the strange court of King Charles I, the wars of the Spanish succession, Versailles, the golden age of Amsterdam and to nineteenth-century Venice. As he journeys through Europe, he befriends both animals and humans, falls in love (only once), marvels at the human ability to make music, despairs at their capacity for war and gains insight into both the strength and frailties of the human spirit. With the rich historical vision of Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell and the captivating canine perspective of A Dog's Purpose, Tomorrow draws us into a unique century-spanning tale of the unbreakable connection between dog and human.

amazing dog waits 127 years for his "master." which I find heartbreaking too. But, he sees so much brutal European history between 1400s and 1800s, with his master, and while he waits, even giving his opinion about humans who have such a short life will waste it on war.

... and now for something *completely* different. :)
Dibben gives us a charming, and engaging, and very, um, human account of the life of a dog missing his master, and seeking for him and waiting faithfully - for over 100 years! So, we have a little historical fiction sweep (one part Edward Rutherfurd), some alchemy and fantasy (one part Neil Gaiman), and a little bit of heart-rending Lady & the Tramp. Along the way, the dog has an extraordinary life, meeting Galileo, Titian, Cromwell, Mozart, Byron, Napoleon, and host of others. The "main lesson" is even for a dog named Tomorrow (for hope), living in the moment is always the most exquisite choice.

I LOVED THIS BOOK which carried a very powerful message about loyalty and the relationship between Humans and animals. I was deeply moved by the relationship between a human and a dog.

The story was based on earlier times when animals were not pets. The loyalty shown between the Dog and his master and other dogs met along the way. It was very touching.

If you are an animal lovers & softie like me some passages will be hard to read due to the emotions this story brings up.

If you love history and ANIMALS, you will find this book to be very special. The dogs name in the book is Tomorrow and the meaning & hope for tomorrow is woven throughout the book.
