It was brilliant, just more proof of how amazing Messenger's plot and characters are. Moments that take your breath away, leaving your head spinning with so much going on. The tale is woven so well! You're rooting for Sophie the entire journey. As a reader, you get to be an Empath along her journey, (yes, like Keefe!) and experience what she does. The flickers of hope, depths of turmoil, and heartbreak. But one of my favorite parts: the last page. So sweet of an ending. It once again left me wanting more, on the edge of my toes, just waiting for the chance to read the next book.

And for the record: Team Keefe!

Messenger has once again brought a wonderful story to us all.

intense, sad, happy.
it's like fitting a puzzle together like solving your own mystery.
love it five-star definently

Okay, wow...
I think this was my fav so far! It definitely lacked a bit of the adventure of the first book, but the character development and heroism was so fulfilling! There were some really sad parts, and some really joyful parts, and all in all it was a wonderful mix.

The second book in the world of Sophie Foster. Mostly an upbeat and thrilling book, with some complex decisions and characters dealing with personal losses. A terrific book for people who enjoy others of this type of genre. My favorite part of this book is when Sophie discovers the Alicorn, an almost extinct species, and finds out that they can communicate to each other. With lots of plot twists and gripping moments, you will never put this book down. In this book, Sophie receives another message from the Black swan and is forced to put everyone at risk to figure this mystery out. Great read and I would 100% recommend from ages 12 and up. 4 / 5 stars @Spencer_Pan of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

In this sequel to the book Keeper of the Lost Cities, Sophie Foster begins to settle into her new home at the Lost Cities. Similar to Rick Riordan’s Lost Hero, Sophie must find a way to bring back hope to several species who are scared. In a society where crimes and rebellions are unheard of, there are stirrings of groups looking to undermine authority. Just as Sophie believes her new life in the elven world may return to normal, a telepathic mission goes wrong and shatters the sanity of one of her mentors. In addition to that, something is wrong with Sophie’s impenetrable mind. There are cracks in her mental shield that affect her Telepathy and Inflicting skills. She must survive the danger once again or risk losing not only her own life, but someone close to her as well.

In this action-filled story, danger lurks around every corner; "'Boy, are you in trouble,' Dex said as he caught up with Sophie. 'You'll be lucky if Grady and Edaline let you out of the house before you turn two hundred and fifty.'" Anyone who enjoys humor and adventure will definitely like this book. I recommend this book for people who like to read about an alternate fantasy world.
