Hendriksen uses humor to get her point across and plenty of anecdotal stories of her patients. Because it is light-hearted, and easy to read, I recommend for younger adults who crave entertainment above education (that is not to say there are not some hidden gems; you are sure to find yourself relating to at least one of the stories).

She spends way to much of the beginning of the book trying to sell the book. And then the rest is a very long-form lesson in CBT and exposure therapies. She also uses a lot of generalizations and it felt alienating at times--not everyone's fears/actions are rooted in the same thoughts.
Instead of this book, I'd recommend "Quiet" by Susan Cain about introversion and society and for CBT/etc. I think "The Anxiety Survival Guide for Teens: CBT Skills to Overcome Fear, Worry & Panic" is good and has a chapter on social anxiety and works for adults/parents too.
