Everybody knows Daisy Jones and the Six. From the moment Daisy walked barefoot on to the stage at the Whisky, she and the band were a sensation. Their sound defined an era. Their albums were on every turntable. They sold out arenas from coast to coast. This is the story of their incredible rise: the desire, the rivalry and the music. Then, on 12 July 1979, Daisy Jones and the Six split up. Nobody knew why. Until now...

At some point, you have to recognize that you have no control over anybody and you have to step back and be ready to catch them when they fall and that’s all you can do.

It’s very vulnerable, being an artist, telling the truth like that, like we’re doing now. When you’re living your life, you’re so inside your head, you’re swirling around in your own pain, that it’s hard to see how obvious it is to the people around you. These songs I was writing felt coded and secret, but I suspect they weren’t coded and secret at all.

It hurts to care about someone more than they care about themselves. I can tell that story from both sides

I am not going to sit around sweating my ass off just so men can feel more comfortable. It’s not my responsibility to not turn them on. It’s their responsibility to not be an asshole.

I think you have to have faith in people before they earn it. Otherwise it’s not faith, right?

I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else’s muse.
I am not a muse.
I am the somebody.
End of f***ing story.

Reid is a great writing talent delivering powerful emotions and creating characters with truth and depth. She has written a fictional book which leaves readers wondering if Daisy Jones and the Six were/are real. Or maybe if they aren't real, who are they based on? It gave me a 70s "Fleetwood Mac" vibe.
Another reason the book is fabulous is that I love books that have diverse but well covered themes. Daisy Jones and the Six explores it all: love versus chemistry, self love, soulmates, friendship, gender issues, addiction and drugs, mental health, grief and of course - songwriting, talent and music.
There were also some great philosophical one liners that smacked you in the face.
Rock on - you will think you have been fans of all your life!
