They are still feeling the effects of the fight which tore them apart - but a summons to their grandmother's birthday party forces them out of their silence. Lola, the big-hearted, strong-willed grandmother who first nicknamed them the Alphabet Sisters, has a plan to reunite them. And while none of the women is eager to confront the past, each has a new reason to long for their sisters' support. This book had a bit of a Maeve Binchey feel to it. Three sisters have not spoken for three years after a terrible row, and now are summoned home by their 80-year-old grandmother - a hoot of a woman - who is trying to get them to mend their canyon of a rift. Told by the three women, the story unfolds and you know that communication needs to happen but no one wants to be the first. Lots of hurt feelings, guilt, love, stubbornness, exasperation, and general sisters being sisters, but we get through all that. The slightly strange thing about this book is that there seem to be two stories one after the other, but still the book was a good summer read.
