Heartbreaking, realistic writing that makes you ache inside, yet somehow you are laughing, and there is a dull sense of hope at the end. Matthew will take your heart and caress it tenderly, then shatter it into little pieces while you can do nought but watch. It is worth it.
Very sad, but essential to numbers 4,5, and 6. The book is definitely better than the movie.
I enjoyed this book as my personal favorite out of the saga. Great writing and feeling. Amen to lordsurya08.

Meh. I didn't like the writing style at all. Mathew Stover is one of my favorite Star Wars authors (and fantasy. he does very good fantasy).
So, this was a major disappointment! Action scenes were dull. Writing was poor. Characters weren't convincing. If you really want a good SW novel than get Shatterpoint. Its excellent.
Stover is brilliant, if you enjoyed this one check out his NJO book Traitor. His writing is very powerful and he immerses you in the characters and in the Force itself. I wish Stover would write more star wars novels, or that more of them were at his level of quality.
Stunning finale to the first three episodes and the Clone Wars, also chronicles the fall of the republic and Anakin Skywalker and the rise of the Emperor and the Empire. A must read for anyone interested in Star Wars science fiction.
This is hands down the best Star Wars book I have read yet.
This book goes so much further than the movie...this book immerses you into the characters' minds and hearts.
