The title is enticing, but aside from some encouragement and memory tricks, too much of the text is about self-promotion. He is undoubtedly a person with an exceptional mind for language (he sells math books too) and he points out how traditional classroom instruction is not effective, but he states paradoxically that the first thing to do is to learn to read your new language. Modern language instruction starts with the fact that all of us learned our first language by speaking, then we learned to read, write and formal grammar. Look for interactive programs, join a conversation group and travel if you can. Skip the translations and grammar drills. I have proven to myself that this works.
