In Duluth, Minnesota, a young woman, Rachel Stoner, has gone missing. Cop Jonathan Stride, a sharply focused detective despite the stresses of his troubled personal life, is quick to suspect her stepfather of murder. And yet, he has his doubts. Even for a man accustomed to power, the accused seems remarkably convinced he'll go free. Could he be telling the truth? While Stride endeavours to make sense of the conflicting pieces of evidence, a young woman's body lies half-buried deep in the woods. But if it's not the body of Rachel, where is the missing girl? Is she dead, or is the terrible, unexpected fate that awaits Graeme Stoner one he does not deserve? In this dark, involving mystery, nothing is as it seems, and readers will be gripped to the very last page as the shocking truth gradually emerges.

Good story, edgy. Flows well and characters are well done. As always, with Freeman, something comes out of nowhere.

A good mystery novel with good characterization. The plot is full of twists and the narrative is tight and well paced. For the detectives, there was a little too much "gut feeling" analysis but it doesn't drag the plot down. Worth reading if you like an edgy murder mystery novel.

I abandoned this audiobook for a while because the story seemed a bit lame but then picked it up again on a road trip. It held my interest and got me through the highway miles but I can't say that I endorse it.

Immoral proved to be an apt title for this psychological thriller. The twists and turns were amazing. At times,I found the voyeuristic aspects very disturbing and thoroughly unpleasant. This was published in 2005.Badly damaged people in small town America have been in the news a lot lately; nothing has changed. There was a kind of justice in the end. The editors, however, should have been more careful with their proof-reading.Time lines are important.I am going to read Freeman's latest to see how far he has gone with Jonathan Stride.

I haven't yet read a book by Brian Freeman that I didn't truly enjoy. Action-packed, suspense and drama!

Very good read. An 18 year old girl dissappears. The police arrest the step father. The story centers around the police duo(Jonathan Strider and partner Maggie) heading the investigation and what happened to the girl.
The 1st novel for Freeman
