Funny, personable, clearly written, well organized, encouraging and discipline demanding, this book is a (near) perfect introduction to poetry. The exercises, especially the first ten are useful, though if truth be told, there are too few (the reader should take the exercises and form more of their own). There are no indexes or bibliography, but there is a long glossary. Its awkward to read and use as a library book due to the length of time the exercises take to complete, so its worth putting on a shopping list.
Great explanation of all the poetic forms & styles with examples. Nearly guaranteed to get you to start writing your own verse!
