Really enjoy Ben Bova's grand tour of the solar system. I do hope he follows up this particular thread, I'm dying to know more about Saturn's rings

I thought this story suffered from a lack of a really strong central narrative. Having too many characters doing too many things, and the chopping and changeing between the various sub-plots was distracting. Is this book a 'hard' science book or a 'space opera'? It failed as either. Many of the characters lacked depth and behaved in a stereotypical fashion. It was a disappointment as a book for me.
