ConscriptionBook - 2006
Conscription is a civic issue, it means compulsory enrolment, usually of men, for military service or military training. It is sometimes called 'the draft' or 'national service'. In Australia, conscription was a very controversial issue in the early 1900's and at the time of the Vietnam War, and to a lesser extent during World War II, it was very evident in World War I also. People's actions about conscription for Vietnam War raised public awareness and helped the election of a new government that stopped the conscription scheme.
