Kevin Henkes is the O.G. of the "Growing Up" picture book genre.
These books are as funny today as they were when I was growing up. They sort of make fun of the little kids (all mice) whom they champion.

A story for all ages...Anderson HS is doing this as a play in October and 69 and 78 year olds are going to go see it.

For boys or girls, adults and children, Lilly stories are appealing to everyone. This story addresses issues of self-restraint, respect for teachers, and how to apologize through the conflict between the teacher and the irrepressible, vibrant personality that is Lilly.

A great book to be read to children who are reaching for an understanding of adult complexity, and for adults who want to reach back for memories of childhood simplicity. Heartily recommend.
