A powerful and political thriller from the master of the genre The scene is set for a huge funeral in St Patrick's Cathedral in New York. The rich and the famous from all over America - and beyond - have arrived to honour a former First Lady after her sudden, unexpected death. Then follows an attack that was three years in the planning. Hostages are taken - the ex-President among them - ransoms demanded, a couple of hostages shot to show the kidnappers mean business. It's all brilliantly and chillingly co-ordinated, and Michael Bennett, the detective in charge of the case, knows it will be his biggest ever challenge.

great book and great way to start a series loved it

Entertaining read, pretty interesting main character even if not very well-developed in the book. I didn't like the end as much as the rest of the book. It felt like there was too much setup for a few pages where everything falls into place like magic. However, still an enjoyable read

I've read most of Patterson's books, except for any in the Mike Bennett series.
I have to say, this book is one of my favorites to date.

awful. Written at a high school level. This was an experiment and I wasnt expecting much

I found this a very quick read, but also violent and disturbing. Great summer reads generally are not this dark, but having said that, Patterson does not disappoint. It was fast paced and held my attention all the way through.

Pretty good book. Very interesting. The ending didn't have to be as complicated as it was, though.

This one left me guessing right to the last chapter. Very surprised with how it ended. Definitely recommend it!
