Although Fiennes makes a good Heathcliff the story was just too dull to hold my interest. Some may enjoy it better than I, no doubt. The music was good though.

I love English period pieces; I have cousins in England, some of whom live on an estate--the main house built in 1609--and though highly educated, they are farmers, country gentry. This story is bizarre: like the protaganist in Emma this female lead character is flighty at best and the male character is an absolute demon. Very dark tale.

Fiennes is indeed a good Heathcliff, but I felt that Catherine was toned down, she has a much more unstable personality in the novel and does wild and disturbing things. In the movie, she is a bit cruel but not too unusual.

Very nice version of the shocking tale, but it was somewhat confusing for the people who didn't already know the story. Other than that, well done!

Good adaption, but prefer the classic version.

I've seen every version ever released, but this is definitely my favourite. Fiennes is the perfect Heathcliff while Binoche plays Cathy flawlessly. The characters, of course, drive the drama but it's the subtleties of the interactions between the two that makes it tangible & real: from moments of vulnerability to fearful rages & jealousy. The fact that it is not a predictably happy love story is what makes it human & their fated romance has a beauty entirely its own.
