These new Holmes stories do a much better job than most of convincingly capturing Conan Doyle's flavour. They don't sound jarringly modern or set out to illustrate perceived flaws of Edwardian society, but simply strive to tell a good story. Watson and Holmes both seem quite compatible with their true selves. I quite enjoyed them.

Too much suspense and violence in the first story. I never finished that story, nor bothered with the rest.
