Whilst defending one of the Timson family on a routine theft charge, Rumpole learns that Tiffany Timson's husband Mahmoud Khan has been arrested on suspicion of terrorism. Battling against New Labour and the new anti-terrorism laws - whilst appeasing the fractious Timsons - proves tricky for the great defender.

I love Rumpole. But I think Mortimer is better at short stories. This is a form that I don't particularly like. But, again, it's the perfect vehicle for Rumpole and his quick wit. Otherwise, this book is alright, if a tad dry because of the dealing with the terrorist "plot".
