Katy Mattingly's book is much easier to understand than Darren Levine's Krav Maga for Beginners. Mattingly's illustrations are clearer and she offers a series of case studies. Students are urged to write about their own situations and to plan multiple reactions to the most common attacks. Two DVDs dovetail well with Mattingly's book: "Live to Tell About It" and "I Am Not A Target".
