Prepare to be Tested.
The story that kicked off the international #1 bestselling Vampire Academy series is NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE.
Read it Before it Hits Theaters February 14th, 2014!

Rose loves Dimitri, Dimitri might love Tasha, and Mason would die to be with Rose…

It's winter break at St. Vladimir's, but Rose is feeling anything but festive. A massive Strigoi attack has put the school on high alert, and now the Academy's crawling with Guardians—including Rose's hard-hitting mother, Janine Hathaway. And if handto- hand combat with her mom wasn't bad enough, Rose's tutor Dimitri has his eye on someone else, her friend Mason's got a huge crush on her, and Rose keeps getting stuck in Lissa's head while she's making out with her boyfriend, Christian! The Strigoi are closing in, and the Academy's not taking any risks.... This year, St. Vlad's annual holiday ski trip is mandatory.

But the glittering winter landscape and the posh Idaho resort only create the illusion of safety. When three friends run away in an offensive move against the deadly Strigoi, Rose must join forces with Christian to rescue them. But heroism rarely comes without a price…

First, I wanted Frostbite to somehow to be better then the first book. They were the same but that doesn’t bother me since I am in love with the series. I loved the different elements and character developments, specifically Roses character development. I still don’t care for Lissa. The plot was amazing, and the sarcasm will always be my favorite part of these books. The action in the novel was also very pleasing. It was way more action packed than the first one and it felt kind of creepy, which made me love it even more. Rating - 5/5.

A good balance of story building, action, romantic interest/tension, and of course, drama. On to book three!

a little slower than the first book for the most part until the end. The sexual tension is high and for awhile there I was starting to wonder if I had slipped into fifty shades of grey.

6/6 - Skiing vampires? Hell yeah! Even if the rest of the book's crap it'll be worth reading just for the thought of vampires (the first examples who pop into my mind are Eric and Edward - a race between a brooding and sparkly vampire and a blond Adonis in a hot pink lycra bodysuit - either way, hilarious). To be continued...

7/6 - Well, skiing vampires (dhampirs, actually) weren't much different from skiing humans, just done in the dark (I was hoping for some Strigoi ski-chasing Rose and Dimitri down the slopes a la that Bond movie). This was better than the first book, more entertaining, faster paced. The one continuing problem I have is Rose's decision making, she makes the most 'punch the wall because you're so frustrating' decisions of any book character I've ever known. She never seems to learn - keeps on drinking (how many times do you have drink too much and make a bad decision before you get yourself killed or finally learn your lesson?), keeps on mouthing off, keeps on taking revenge for slights (real or imagined) that just make the situation worse for everyone (I'm thinking of Mason here, I wonder if she'll learn that hard lesson) - I could train a puppy with more ease than her.

If there are teams I'm definitely on Team Dimitri, Adrian seems too smarmy and possibly evil for my liking. This one only kept me up from 11 pm till 2:45 am, that's a much better night's sleep than Thursday night was. Already got the next one on hold at the library.

Book 2 in the series; preceded by Vampire Academy and followed by Shadow Kiss. Really good read. It focuses more on Rose now. I want soo bad for Rose to end up with Dimitri, but we will see......

It really wasn't that much of a spoiler considering his feelings for Rose were unrequited. When I read it, I wasn't surprised at all that the author had decided to kill him off given the attention she'd been paying to Rose and Dimitri. Meaning, his existence was superficial - he was meant to die to start a body count and create the illusion that he was actually important to the story, which he wasn't. The only thing that was sad about it was he died trying to save Rose and that she didn't feel the same way about him. With that said, I find it insulting that the author even thought to include him in the story if that's what she was going to do with him. It was a cheap cop out and pretense that this story is ballsy when it comes to killing off characters.

Life is rough in high school--even for dhamphirs. Rose Hathaway is in her Senior year at St. Vladimir's. In six months, she'll be a full fledged guardian, protecting her lifelong best friend, Lissa, a Moroi Royal.

Rose is on her way to take her Qualifier. She's going to be tested by one of the guardian greats, Arthur Schoenberg. Since he cannot leave the Moroi royal house he is guarding, Rose and her teacher, Dimitri, are coming to them.

What they find instead is slaughter. All Moroi and Dhamphir members of the household are dead--apparently a plot by the Stigoi vampires and humans in conjunction.

St. Vladimir's reacts with alarm. The school won't be allowing the students to leave on Christmas break. Instead, a ski resort will host all the students together and attendance is mandatory.

Then--another Royal house is attacked and it becomes obvious the Stigoi are set to attack all the Moroi royalty and end the lines. While the Moroi are arguing defense, some of the factions are considering a more offensive approach--which, to this point, has been forbidden.
