Having read literally hundreds of self help books, from survivors, to men, communication, relationship... You name it, I rank this at the top with Ellen Kreidman's "Light His Fire" and "Light Her Fire", and "LifeMates " by Harold H. Bloomfield M.D. , and " When I say No I feel Guilty" by Manuel J. smith PhD

I have often watched Steve Harvey speak about dating, men, and what works with men. I read this book, in 2 days, it is easy to read, simply stated, based on his years of experience observing and working with men, and his own life.

It all rings true. I wish I had read this as a teen or even pre teen girl!
He gives clear easy to understand examples, (which at 54 I can see all the classic mistakes I have made over the years, ), facts, all very basic and simple to understand.

He gives questions and guidelines use for our selection process. He give great suggestions on everythng from dress style to when and hw to approach important topics.

I am so glad I read this. It has already changed my perspective when dealing with men. I have always been clueless, and felt powerless. I now feel informed and empowered to make better well informed decisions, and choices in how I present myself, what I will and will not accept, to how I interpret the actions and conversation of the men.

I suggest this book for anyone intersted in dating and understanding men, what drives them , how they think, operate, and how to get the best out of a good relationship with a good man.

After reading this book, I became very excited to see if the book was similar, and I must say that it is. This book gives you a lot of insight on relationships, and men altogether. We some times become so custom to having a one track mind, and this helps you to change that a little. Enjoyed this book.

This book is a sexist piece of garbage -- sexist toward both men and women. Also, it seems to cater to people who live a very specific lifestyle with a very specific way of speaking. Basically people who think like Steve Harvey, religion and all. It's just not realistic. Not all men are slobs who just want to watch sports all the time. You know, some men actually have feelings and want more than just sex and women waiting on them. Gee, isn't that a ground-breaking concept? Also, the definition of a strong, independent woman is not (as was described in an example in the book) someone who feels the need to beat a man down if she has the financial upper-hand. That kind of person is an asshole. A strong, independent woman is someone who doesn't need to rely on others for finances, self-confidence, or running her life in general.

I don't even know what else to say about this book. It's just ludicrous.

I live with seven men, all ages. One I married, one brother, one I divorced, four sons. I can tell you, Mr. Harvey knows what he's talking about. Pay Attention! If you want to be in a relationship iwth a man that is successful, this is an excellent book!

“But remember what drives a man; real men do what they have to do to make sure their people are taken care of, clothed, housed, and reasonably satisfied, and if they're doing anything less than that, they're not men.”

“All I'm telling you to do is to be smart about it. Know that if this man isn't looking for a serious relationship, you're not going to change his mind just because you two are going on dates and being intimate. You could be the most perfect woman on the Lord's green earth-you're capable of interesting conversation, you cook a mean breakfast, you hand out back rubs like sandwiches, you're independent (which means, to him, that you're not going to be in his pockets)-but if he's not ready for a serious relationship, he going to treat you like sports fish.”
