Eighteen-year-old maid Tess Davies is determined to escape the wealthy, troubled family she serves. It's 1912, and Tess has been trapped in the employ of the Lisles for years, amid painful memories and twisted secrets. But now the Lisle family is headed to America, with Tess in tow. Once the ship they're sailing on--the RMS Titanic--reaches its destination, Tess plans to strike out and create a new lifefor herself.

Her single-minded focus shatters when she meets Alec, a handsome first-class passenger who captivates her instantly. But Alec has secrets of his own. He's in a hurry to leave Europe, and whispers aboard the ship say it's because of the tragic end of his last affair with the French actress who died so gruesomely and so mysteriously. . . .

Soon Tess will learn just how dark Alec's past truly is. The danger they face is no ordinary enemy: werewolves exist and are stalking him--and now her, too. Her growing love for Alec will put Tess in mortal peril, and fate will do the same before their journey on the Titanic is over.

In Fateful, New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray delivers paranormal adventure, dark suspense, and alluring romance set against the opulent backdrop of the Titanic's first--and last--voyage.

I was quite disappointed with the novel . Though I do appreciate the fact that the author did her best to include historical facts.

Oh My GOSH!!!!!!! This was an amazing read. No one can resist doomed romance Once Claudia Grey gets going, this book is breathtaking! I'm not one for paranormal romance, but when you tie it in with the Titanic, it's a must!!! My new favorite book! Please read it!

I rate this book an 'ok' read because I couldn't really get into the story as much as I wanted to. In fact, I didn't finish it. The author's style of writing didn't appeal to me. Others have really liked it, but I found it too one-dimensional. Not a lot of depth to the story or characters. If it weren't for the dramatic setting - the sinking titanic - I don't think it would be memorable.

Claudia Gray has done a wonderful job with this book. Alex and Tess live out a wild and haunting journey on the Titanic. Really liked the book and wish Claudia would write a sequel. Werewolves and romance, but with a different twist.

This book is not just a werewolf story, but a werewolf story on the Titanic. I still can't decide whether that's doubly cliche or absolutely brilliant. Besides that, I found that it was neither terrible nor wonderful, although it is rather descriptive, and sounds like it follows the culture of the time. All in all, not exceptional, but a good read all the same.

Fateful is a romance about werewolves on the Titanic. That?s right: werewolves on the Titanic. Preposterous? Of course. Fun? Absolutely. Tess Davies is a maid for the snobbish Lisle family, and she?s finally had enough. She?s taking this opportunity to break free: when Titanic reaches New York, Tess will strike out on her own. But a seemingly chance encounter with two men?one sinister, one handsome?has Tess looking over her shoulder as she boards the mighty ship. Sure enough, the two strangers are on board and on the prowl. Mikhail is a dangerous werewolf representing the Brotherhood, a powerful paranormal faction. Alec is also a (very wealthy and attractive first class) werewolf, but he?s clinging to his sense of humanity and desperate to do no harm. Mikhail is after Alec?s fortune but there?s something else on Titanic?something that belongs to the Lisle family?and Mikhail?s not going to let some gutsy little maidservant stand in his way. As Tess is drawn deeper in the werewolves? affairs, the ship has its own fateful encounter with an iceberg that will foil the best-laid plans of wolf and maid. Melodramatic, with a steamy romance and plenty of action, Fateful is an entirely worthwhile guilty pleasure.

When the Lisle family takes leave to New York aboard the Titanic, Tess again meets the young man.
