On a small coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef two communities come together in an uneasy alliance: a tourist resort and a scientific research station. At first glance, the island is a sexy resort, a naturalist's dream, a diver's delight. But the island holds secrets and dangers as Jennifer Towse soon discovers. When world-famous Isobel Belitas arrives, Jennifer learns to see the world - above and below the sea - very differently. Isobel also teaches her to come to terms with her obsessive mother, as well as her disintegrating marriage. But no one, not even investigative journalist Tony Adams, could have prepared Jennifer for the stunning revelations of what is really happening on this island paradise...

I did not finish this story. I got three discs in and got fed up. First off, the reader's reading was extremely annoying. She reads the main character's voice in a babyish innocent voice that is grating beyond belief. But besides that, the main character is a spineless wishy washy wimp that I couldn't take anymore. First she is bullied all her life by her mother, and then she marries a bully. At the point in the story where Jennifer helps a woman who was just assaulted and beaten, she wants to alert the authorities, but her husband doesn't want to, that's where I quit. Perhaps they did alert the authorities, but my guess is that she did what her husband said again.

There are plenty of delightful easy reads out there. Do yourself a favor and read one, and pass on this book.
