A Journey From Lost to Found

At twenty-six, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's rapid death from cancer, her family disbanded and her marriage crumbled. With nothing to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to walk eleven-hundred miles of the west coast of America - from the Mojave Desert, through California and Oregon, and into Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience of long-distance hiking and the journey was nothing more than a line on a map. But it held a promise - a promise of piecing together a life that lay in ruins at her feet.

Wild was nothing like I expected it to be and really such a thrilling and touching journey. I'm not usually one to read biographies unless they're penned by my favourite female comedians but Cheryl surprised me by writing not only an informative story but also an interesting, relatable and deeply honest story. She showed her complete self, all the worst parts and the best, in this book and it really makes the difference because this book is now such a success and beloved by so many readers. The author also had a fantastic writing style that made even the most basic of storylines seem interesting. There was never really a dull moment in this book and I would recommend it to all readers because there's something for everyone.

Inspiring memoir of a young woman's hike along the Pacific Crest Trail in the U.S. as she seeks to come to grips with life in the wake of her mother's sudden and untimely death four years earlier.
