The books co-authored by Ellis really are Patterson’s best. They are better constructed & better written, thanks to Ellis, but still in Patterson’s (rather annoying) style of 2-page chapters & “duhn, duhn, DUHN!!” cliffhanger last sentences.
The stream-of-consciousnesses stuff is rather disorienting, but it’s to give you an idea what it’s like inside this guy’s head, so just wade through it. It doesn’t last too long.
I do recommend Ellis’s solo books - he was already a successful writer before Patterson teamed up with him.

When Diana Hotchkiss is thought to have killed herself, Ben starts his own investigation. But people who are higher up in the government do not want him poking around. He survives numerous attempts on his life, and will not stop asking questions. I was surprised at the ending, because I didn't think it would end the way it did.

I thought this novel was good, even though it was different from some of the other James Patterson books I have read. The main character, Ben, was such a likable guy, and he deserved better women in his life than the two in this novel. Good mystery.

Big James Patterson fan but unfortunately just couldn't get through this book. The narrating character was annoying and his obsessive thoughts that just went on and on just ruined it for me.

I thought this was much better than many of Patterson's previous collaborations. It was entertaining, different, fast-paced, and funny

Good enjoyable read with lots of twists and turns. A surprise for sure when the plot takes a turn. Some of Patterson's work is far better but all in all a nice easy read.
