First off, this is simply the story of a period in Jeff Buckley's life (that must have been pretty tough) with flashes back to his father's life. It is certainly not a biography. In fact, I'd say it's BASED on facts from that time, but mostly is fiction - even the girl is made up. You will never hear Jeff's voice in the entire movie. And let's not miss the irony of a film about Jeff being named for his father. However, from this movie, I'm now a huge Penn Badgley fan. He does an absolutely excellent job with what is probably a pretty trying and tough role. They writers and director pull the story together beautifully. If you don't know Jeff or Tim Buckley, I'm not sure how this movie would work for you. If you are a fan of either, it's a definite must watch.
