Alan Christoffersen lost his heart when his wife was killed in an accident almost one year ago. So Alan decided to leave his painful memories behind and walk from Seattle to the farthest point on the map, Key West, but in St. Louis, he is forced to stop. Because his severe vertigo is diagnosed as the side effect of a brain tumor, Alan must go to Los Angeles for treatment. He is surrounded by those who care most for him: his father, who is happy to have Alan back in his childhood home; Falene, who has been by his side through his most difficult times; and Nicole, who helped him recover from a mugging in Spokane. One by one, Alan alienates them all, and he resumes his journey in angry loneliness. The people he meets as he walks the dusty southern back roads have lessons to teach Alan about accepting love. He just has to have faith that life can be worth living again, and that the woman he rejected will be willing to forgive him.

Part 4 picks up again, whereas the third installment was a bit heavy.
Protagonist is (finally) beginning to work through his grief. Leaves you hanging though (in a frustrated kind of way because you want to know more) - so glad I just finished and Part 5 is already out! Miles covered, sights seen and people met are all dutifully and interestingly recorded - a bit overmuch on listing contents of every meal he ate every day though.

Loved this series (4 or 5 parts). Didn't like his other book Christmas Box nearly as much.

I was upset when I found out there is a book number 5 in the series we have to wait another year for! He is dragging out the storyline.

When one starts reading Evans, particularly when it is a book in the "walk" series, one is full of expectations. In my case I was not let down. Alan Christoffersen's journey through America is everyone's journey of life. The lessons we learn are the lessons we would learn in a fully lived life. Indeed a must read book. Can't wait for the next book in the series.
