After a tip-off, a man's body is exhumed from a shallow grave in Edinburgh. Murder, surely - yet he died from natural causes, so: case closed? Indeed, was there ever a case at all? But Chief Constable Skinner and his people continue digging. Who was the man, why was he buried so reverentially, and by whom? Meanwhile, an investigation into corruption within the force is launched. And, immersed in crises, his marriage heading for the rocks, Skinner's very career is in jeopardy, its fate beyond his control. In this tale of mystery upon mystery, seen through the eyes of each of its leading players, the greatest threat of all facing the Chief is revealed, and a deadly race begins. Can he win out, or will his life implode?

First attempt with this author, interesting way of using each chapter for a character.

Just as I thought the well was running dry with Bob Skinner et al, the author comes back with a winner. The ending rocks too!
