A great follow up to A Promise of Blood. While I wouldn't describe it as a quick read, I zipped right through this book. The story is fast paced without any tedious or boring moments. The book has fewer political machinations than Promise of Blood, but it also has a lot more warfare. History buffs will notice the similarities between Field Marshall Tamas's trek across Kez and Deliv and Napoleon's trek through North Africa and the Levant. I can't wait to finish the trilogy.

A brilliant follow up to Promise of Blood. I could not put it down and now I cannot get a day of my life back. If you like Sanderson or Weeks you will love Brian McClellan. His characters are wonderfully portrayed and his story telling is world class. I cannot wait until Autumn Republic's release in February 2015.
