"Caesar and his followers have escaped the clutches of man, fighting their way across the Golden Gate Bridge and taking refuge in the vast redwood forest known as Muir Woods. There they hope to establish a home, far from the humans who so horribly abused them. But mankind has far worse things to worry about. The 'Simian Flu' has begun to strike down unsuspecting innocents throughout San Francisco. What began as isolated cases quickly becomes a full-on epidemic. There are those who blame the apes, and would seek to take revenge, while others hunt Caesar and his troop for their own insidious reasons"--Page [4] of cover.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: It's a book about the end of the world wiped out by a virus with desperate humans and apes. So... yeah. It's going to be a tad scary to some.

Sexual Content: The book fades to black at a few points and does not go into details about the actions. Though there are a few occasions where it's heavily implied what's happened and uses some language. Nothing bad.

Violence: There are many depictions of violence. Though the book doesn't venture into gory details, you'll read about people getting shot, burned, or bleeding and dying.

A good "mid-quel" novelization of events before "Dawn of.." . It would've made an okay adaptation imo.

Starts off hardly a week after the first movie with Caesar still trying to get a hang of evasion strategies and gathering food. There's a big focus on Koba and flashbacks to his past.

Different humans are highlighted including Gary Oldman's,Dreyfus character but the main focus is on a ex-mercenary and primatologist.

Both connect while being suspicious of what the security contractor has pulled them into (a mission to find the escaped apes) all the while being out of the loop most of the time as human society quickly deteriorates.
