Deep in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in West Virginia, where every man owns a gun and a moonshine still, abides living legend Jesco White, "the dancing outlaw". As a boy Jesco was in and out of reform school and the insane asylum. To keep him out of trouble, his daddy D-Ray taught him the art of mountain dancing, a frenzied version of tap dancing to wild country banjo music. After his father's death, crazy Jesco dons his father's tap shoes and takes his show on the road.

I watched this not knowing anything about who this was based one, and wow is all I have to say. This was one wild man. It wasn't hard to watch or follow. If this is what his life was like even a little bit of it, then holy moly, it really was crazy and so was he.

Well acted wild character study of Jesco White. This is NOT a documentary, or filmed in a documentary style. It is fairly entertaining, and tells (true or false) an account of Jesco's life growing up and as a young adult. Honestly, I enjoyed the documentary The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia much more. Seeing actual live footage of Jesco is more powerful. There is a lot of Jesco footage in the special features of the WWWWV documentary. If you still need more Jesco, this film might be interesting and entertaining.

If this WAS based on a true story of the life of a man, Edward Hogg must've been haunted from playing his part. Difficult to watch at times but compelled to stay with it.
