Decent book, but the problem I have is the Romaji, and the fact the Kanji in it are introduced a bit dryly with no mnemonics to aid for memorization.

However, the book's introduction is VERY good. I'd recommend borrowing it for its introduction alone, and then using Kodansha's Kanji Learner's Course for learning Kanji.
