I liked that George was trying to be good but he ate the cake. ~Aliyana, age 5

My 1 year old asks me to read this at least a few times a day. He giggles when he hears Oh no, George! The bright colors in the illustrations are very attractive and George himself is very much like a toddler as he struggles with his id and superego. I honestly don't mind reading this one over and over.

George tries to be a good dog, but he finds it hard to control his impulses when there are cats to chase, flowers to dig up, and a delicious cake sitting on the kitchen table. Ages 0-6.

Haughton makes bold choices regarding color, shape, and scale. George towers over his owner in size, eager to please but rarely succeeding. Although his behavior might not be good, it is never intentionally devious. He simply can't keep himself in check.

Not only is this book so fun, but it's a great lesson in repentance. George makes mistakes, apologises, and then adjusts his behaviour! Good work, George!

Poor George really does want to be good and children can relate to this idea. It's also fun to get the children involved in deciding "What will George do?"

George REALLY wants to be good, but when there are so many fun things to get into, being good is REALLY hard!
