I hadn't any expectations of this film. In fact I was unexpectedly surprised by the chemistry of the three lead characters especially Johnson who in my opinion stole the show. The end was a disappointment as it didn't make much sense and appeared to be almost an afterthought and a convenient way to tie up the end of the story. Overall though I liked it a lot.

The movie starts off well but goes completely off track after the first 30 minutes. The plot turns very flimsy... Cops try to kill a paroled convict by drugging him and leaving his body on train tracks. The man is saved but none of the characters in the movie seem to be wanting to know the motive behind this. The plot meanders on to nebulous constructs...

Gets a two star from me because it is gripping and some scenes are well shot. The story line can be thrown out the window...

This is a good production. Balanced acting, interesting storyline. Although plot seems a bit disjointed at times, overall a good experience.

I borrowed this on the basis of Sam Shepard's presence in the cast, but it was just not worth the effort. The film starts out looking oh so predictable, but then an interesting twist is introduced. But that could not offset the pedestrian, unconvincing acting. I gave up about halfway through.

Started promising but regressed to mundane action movie fare.

A gnarly, tough story. I'd watch it again.

I liked this movie more than most, but the background music seems to be constantly playing. It's not that good, and is poorly balanced with the rest of the audio.

Basically, I viewed this thriller to see what kind of films Don Johnson and Sam Shepard are doing nowadays. It is the story of an innocent citizen getting trapped in really, really bad stuff way over his head. A good mystery thriller in the beginning that sorta becomes conventional at the end.

Not bad. I would have given it more stars but some key parts of the movie do not make sense.

The constant driving music was distracting. It seemed like such a Halloween rip-off and so manipulative that it kept pulling me out of the movie and was very annoying. Fortunately the plot twists were good enough to save this movie from just being derivative.

Father on son (different argument, no dog reference, used in book):

Russel (ex-con):- What are you gonna do when a dog goes bad on you, bites somebody or hurts somebody? There's only two things you can do, right?
You either chain him up or put him down. But which do you think is more cruel?
