Okay, after struggling through to the end of this movie all I can say is "I get it". I get what 2hrs and 17mins was trying to tie up in a bow, but it wasn't worth it. Long and tedious without much feeling for any of the 3 separate stories. I get the connection, I just wish I hadn't bothered.
This does not make sense. I can't figure out what is going on. Stopped watching after about 1/2 an hour. Waste of time.
This is an attempt to make an artsy film like Michael Hanneke's "Cache". This film fails in its ability to engage. I gave up caring about the characters halfway through. Sticking with it wasn't worth it. Trust me, you're better off not exploring this pointless snoozefest. IMDB says the entire story takes place in the writer's imagination and stories, because he can't deal with his personal tragedy except in the 'third person'. I guess he can't deal with his subsequent pathetic choices either. It's supposed to be a thinker, 'all our tragedies are shared', blah blah blah, but any movie where the only brown characters are shrill store clerks is a stinker. Yes, I regret watching this film.
Written by the same person that gave us "Crash"? Well this is certainly no "Crash", that's for sure! I would give "Crash" five stars. What happened here? This is a just plain awful movie.
Not to sure how all 3 stories tie into the main story? Can anyone explain?
Chose this movie because of Crash, Paul Haggis's Oscar winner. The cast is amazing and the acting very good... but instead of intertwining the lives and relationships of antagonists and protagonists, it just went on and on until you were wondering what is going on and when is something going to happen to explain why everyone is SO DEPRESSED! Other comments state it made sense at the very end. I disagree. It was confusing, boring and ridiculous. Surprised this one made it to the screen.
Makes absolutely no sense until near the very end. Had a hard time watching it because of this but....very glad I did. Reminded me of the type of filming in 'We Need To Talk About Kevin' (an excellent movie which I highly recommend).
Pretty much a mind blower. It gets weirder and weirder as time goes on until they let you know whats going on...right at the end.
A very interesting movie by Paul Haggis who's mentioned people either love it or hate it - and he is happy with that. I would rate this movie above average because of the performances (or at least the characters played) by J Franco, A Brody, M Kunis, M Atias and O Wilde. Maybe L Neeson has played too many action characters - while certainly adequate, he seemed mis-cast in this role.
A few different stories of different couples going on with a bit of suspense as to what is going to transpire. Everyone seems to intertwine.
