Claire Malloy's life has changed dramatically in recent years. She married longtime beau Deputy Police Chief Peter Rosen. She still owns the Book Depot, but has passed the running of it to her employees. With daughter Caron inching ever closer to college, the only thing that remains unchanged is Claire's astonishing ability to attract trouble. Summoned for jury duty, Claire is humiliatingly dismissed by a prosecutor with a grudge against her husband. So she decides to find the defendant in the murder case and help prove her innocence.

Joan Hess should give up Claire Malloy as a character as the plots are now boring and repetitive.
