Togetherness follows four adults living under one roof struggling to keep their relationships and dreams alive as they approach the age of forty. Brett (Mark Duplass) and Michelle (Melanie Lynskey) are a married couple in their mid-late 30s struggling to adapt their relationship to the pressures of parenthood. Brett's best friend is Alex (Steve Zissis), an overweight, out-of-work actor debating if he still has a shot at being successful. Alex connects with Michelle's sister, Tina (Amanda Peet), a free spirit grappling with being single and getting older. Each adult fights to sustain his or her own passion without skirting responsibility. As the two couples find themselves living under one roof, 'Togetherness' explores the significance behind every day moments.

A highly entertaining dramedy.

Way better than I expected; realistic character development and many recognizable moments for marrieds, used-to-bes, and singles. I really enjoyed this.

This show isn't for everyone, but if you've enjoyed other half-hour dramedies such as Girls, Transparent, The Big C, Enlightened and United States of Tara, you will probably like it. There are only 2 seasons of this series, and it has been cancelled. It's an HBO show and contains sex and profanity.

I'd like to thank Carl_B for making us aware of the nudity. From writers/directors/actors Mark and Jay Duplass ("Jeff Who Lives at Home," "The Puffy Chair"), HBO's "Togetherness" is one of those shows that seems like a comedy, but is actually kinda melancholy, which isn't a bad thing. Set in L.A., it centers around a married couple (Mark Duplass and Kiwi Melanie Lynskey) who get two new roommates: their struggling actor friend (Steve Zissis) and Lynskey's sister (Amanda Peet). It manages to be both funny and touching without being corny and the 4 leads are all good. If you're married or in a long term relationship, you'll probably appreciate it more. Peter Gallagher has a recurring role. Also check out "Casual" and "Flaked."
