When he came out of the pen after serving six years for rustling, Steve Britton swore he'd never use his gun again. He went straight, took two partners, and set up as a mustanger - hard, honest work. One partner, Eddie Lane, wasn't much more than a kid, but he had dreams of earning enough money to return to Texas and marry the girl waiting there for him. The other partner, Kyle Reeve, was a friend from before jail and was willing to try the straight life even though he wasn't a big fan of hard work. But Britton hadn't counted on the men of the Chain Link spread. The owner and ramrod seemed to have it in for them from the time they arrived in the Ladrones of New Mexico, but he couldn't understand why. Then the owner's son is killed and the Chain Link men set their sights on Britton. When they hang one of his partners, Steve has no choice. He's through being pushed around. Now his enemies will have to meet him at the end of a gun.
