This is not the story of the Wonderland we know. Alice has not fallen down a rabbit hole. This is a Wonderland where beneath each smile lies a secret, each tart comes with a demand, and only prisoners tell the truth. Dinah is the princess who will one day reign over Wonderland. She has not yet seen the dark depths of her kingdom; she longs only for her father's approval and a future with the boy she loves. But when a betrayal breaks her heart and threatens her throne, she is launched into Wonderland's dangerous political game. Dinah must stay one step ahead of her cunning enemies or she'll lose not just the crown but her head.

Yet another fresh take on this old tale. ‘Queen of Hearts’ is dark, yet beautiful. The world unfolds before the reader both slowly and quickly, and this first book, while a marvelous introduction to Dinah and her Wonderland, has left me craving more!

Dinah grows as the story progresses, in the beautiful, grim way that childhood recedes and adulthood looms. The author uses words to paint a glorious, yet horrifying Wonderland, and Dinah is at the heart of it all.

If you enjoy the original Wonderland, you might enjoy this one. But be warned: this is not a child’s fancy. This is a story of blood and defiance, betrayal and rebellion. Once you read this book, you can never go back.

Great book for sure. At first glance it doesn't seem like much but it is soooooo well written. I really enjoyed this book! It balances whimsical fantasy with a dark take on things.

This exciting twist on the classic tale of Alice in Wonderland will thoroughly engage the audience as they explore the Queen of Heart’s perspective. It all begins when Dinah, the future Queen of Hearts learns that her tyrannical father has kept hidden a secret daughter all along and is favoring her over the rightful heirs to the throne. Things continue getting darker and more twisted than Dinah could ever imagine when she and her first love, Wardley, explore the mysterious Black Towers. Someone who has been tortured there for years showed Dinah a cryptic message right before she learned that the King killed her little brother and is planning to frame it on her. Not wanting to play his game of chess, Dinah escapes with the farewell from Wardley and leaves her home to survive in the horrifying lands of Wonderland. This was a very creative take on the original tale that left me covered in goosebumps. The characters are primal, dark and willing to kill. I really enjoyed Dinah’s flawed character and how she develops throughout the novel. Rating: 5/5

"And down the rabbit hole she'll go, with her twisted mind and fleeing soul". (I just came up with that line and I rather like it). The story of the queen of hearts is a rather interesting mystery to many. This book isn't so much about how she becomes who she is in Lewis Carroll's classic, but a different spin. There is no Alice, and readers can be intrigued by the queen's strong passionate emotions, which lead to deadly consequences. Several interesting parts I found that I enjoyed were the new roles for the "Mad Hatter" and "Cheshire Cat." Overall, it was a bit violent and dark so I do suggest mature readers only. 3/5 stars

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Wonderland is not my favorite fantasy world so I was hesitant at first. But what I liked the most was Dinah as a character. I enjoyed her tenacity, relentless nature, and her femininity. She is dynamic and I want to read more about her. And then, the conspiracy plot thickened and then I was hooked. So I can excited to read the next one -- thank goodness I have it.

I REALLY, REALLY, loved this book. I was never really a fan of the; "Wonderland" world. But this story was amazing. I finished it within a couple of hours. Very, interesting, story moved along well, and very exciting. Can't wait to read the sequel!!!
