One morning, six young ninjas are dropped off at Dojo Daycare. As soon as their ninja moms and ninja dads have left: KABOOM! KAPOW! The ninja boys and girls kick, push, punch, and quickly turn the place upside down in a full-blown ninja riot. Try as he might, the hapless master can't control the children, and the disaster plays out through lunchtime and story time. No one heeds the master's repeated mantra of honor, kindness, and respect -- until one little ninja steps up and rallies his ninja pals to undo all that they have done, just in time for pickup.

My 2.5 year old loved this book and we had to read it every night. The illustrations are so well done and comical (a little boy with his face in his noodle bowl). I loved what the Master always said "It's time for you to all reflect, on honor, kindness, and respect". Such great values for all of our little ones to learn. Great book, definitely a must read! Definitely a 5 star rating on this one.

Author-illustrator Chris Tougas has a background in film animation, a fact which quickly becomes apparent when flipping through "Dojo Daycare." Readers can easily imagine this simple but hilarious tale as a Saturday morning cartoon; subtle comic touches like ninja parents descending from the ceiling elevate the book's energy.

The book imagines all the chaos that could ensue at a daycare for ninjas. Tiny robed tots bust their way through each activity, eventually reducing their helpless Master to tears. One little ninja finally speaks up and restores order so by the time the parents arrive, the daycare is running smoothly. Despite its silliness, "Dojo Daycare" ultimately champions kindness, and respect over recklessness and violence.

Rollicking, rhyming text keeps the book moving energetically and bold exclamations pop off the page. Don’t be surprised when little readers incorporate "hi-ja" and "bye-ja" into their vocabularies!
