Great Film !

This Norwegian take on a disaster film is refreshing -- much, much better than anything that Hollywood has given the world lately. Still, it didn't quite measure up to the previews/trailers. And, how many ways are there to tell the story of an apocalyptic natural disaster?

I found this to be a quite effective thriller. Part of it is the script has the right amount of suspense. Part of it is a geologist I know has assured me that the realism of the big effect sequence - those who have seen the film will know what one I mean - has some reality to it. The build up is good. The performances are good. All in all it is a worthy watch.

I enjoyed this movie: no coarse language, sex or nudity.
This is a must-see for anyone who's been on a Norway cruise, visited Norway, or planning to visit Norway.

What a thrilling, edge of your seat, awesome thriller! Watched it dubbed and glad I did ...I think if I had to read the sub-titles... I think I wouldn't have be absorbed in the movie as much as I did. FANTASTIC!

Directed by Roar Uthaugt in 2015, this Norwegian disaster drama tells about the rockslide that causes an 80 meter tall tsunami, which will destroy anything in its direction.
Although the visual effects appear great, the story seems unbelievable.
Under such circumstances, it's impossible for the family could survive the tsunami.
You definitely need a willing suspension of disbelief.

Intro from old newsreel:
The rock slide on January 15, 1905, surprised the villagers while they were sound asleep. The rock slide occurred in Lodalen in Nordfjord. The result was a massive tsunami that killed 63 people. The wave swept across Lake Loen and was 40 meters high when it hit land. It's been 58 years since the Tafjord rock slide (1934.) We have registered 300 unstable mountainsides in Norway today. It's only a matter of time before the next big rock slide. Geiranger is now threatened by what could be a new Tafjord disaster. Out along the fjord lies Åkerneset. gigantic, unstable mountainside that will fall someday. Seven million cubic meters of rock will crash into the fjord <i>creating a massive tsunami. Nowhere are the crevices as active as at Åkerneset. The question is: Can people in the area be warned in time?
