Walker Boh continues his assigned quest from Allanon to find the Black elfstone and restore Paranor. Quickening (King of Silver river daughter ), Pe Ell an Assassin, Morgan Leah and a few others join him on the quest. Only reading the book will tell you if he succeeds or fails and other surprises as well.

I have read nearly all the books in the Shannara series, and this is definitely one of the best. One can only marvel at Brooks’ imagination for fantasy writing, as he has us join an unforgettable cast of characters on yet another fascinating quest. The world of Shannara takes place thousands of years in the future after the “Great Wars,” when mankind all but annihilated itself and magic and mythical creatures returned to the lands. In this story, Brooks comes up with some of his most imaginative and intriguing characters and places – like the Stone King, the elemental Quickening, the Maw Grint and the ruins of Eldwist (a city dating from our times). This is Terry Brooks at his best.

This did feel like a very long read, and it took a while because I left off about half way through, due to.....well one must be in the mood for a Shannara novel or it just won't work. This installment had its perks, but not as good as Scions of Shannara, it's predecessor.
